About Us
COMPREDICT was founded by
Dr.-Ing. Rafael Fietzek and
Dr.-Ing. Stéphane Foulard in 2016 in Darmstadt, Germany.
Our focus lies on virtual sensors and software-based health and usage monitoring, including wear and failure prediction. We achieve this by combining domain expertise and data-driven approaches for mechanical, mechatronic, electric
and electronic components. We are an internationally staffed team working with automotive manufacturers, suppliers and telematics companies worldwide.

DB Mindbox | Train energy consumption
In this Proof of Concept (PoC) with DB Mindbox, we have developed a continuously working virtual sensor for train energy consumption, based on a GPS signal and altitude maps, for electric trains without telematics.
De4LoRa | Double e-Drive For Long Range
COMPREDICT provides virtual load estimations for the design of this innovative powertrain, as well as algorithms for lifetime prediction.
De4LoRa Project
“Double-E Drive for Long Range”
Zero-emission on everyday trips
The innovative “Double-E Drive for Long Range” will enable emission-free electric driving on everyday routes of less than 100 km ….
Fuel-efficient at long distance
… while at the same time offering full long-distance capability thanks to the low-emission and fuel-efficient natural gas engine (CNG).
CO2-neutral with biogas
… if fueled with biogas, the CNG engine will even run CO2-neutral on long distance trips.
COMPREDICT’s contribution
In this multiannual project, COMPREDICT provides the virtual load estimations for the powertrain design, as well as the algorithms for lifetime prediction.
COMPREDICT’s contribution
We are already looking forward to the tests on a powertrain test bench and in a real prototype vehicle, at a later stage of the project.
We are teaming up with
• Vitesco Technologies as coordinator
• Four institutes at Darmstadt Technical University
• Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Center GmbH
• APS-technology GmbH
• AVL Software and Functions GmbH
• BMZ Germany GmbH
• Isar Getriebetechnik GmbH & Co. KG and
• Windschiegl Maschinenbau GmbH.

An innovative research project
… which is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMDV) with around 11 million euros.
COMPREDICT’s contribution
In this project, we provide AI-based algorithms, so-called virtual sensors. Their aim is to predict and avoid vehicle component failures.
Our partners
A total of eight partners from industry and research team up in this consortium. The project will run from November 2021 to May 2024.
